FAQs

Which Zip water filter do I need?

Zip water filters are designed to suit specific systems, filter families and micron ratings, so choosing the correct cartridge is essential. While many Zip filters may appear similar, most are system-specific and are not interchangeable across different Zip taps or HydroTap models.

The easiest way to identify the correct filter is to check the part number printed on your existing cartridge. If that is not available, you can confirm compatibility by checking your Zip unit model and its build date, as filter requirements can change between generations.

Ordering the wrong filter can lead to unnecessary delays, returns and downtime. If you are unsure which Zip water filter you need, Aquastream’s filtration experts are here to help. We offer free expert advice and consultation to ensure you select the correct filter the first time, avoiding the inconvenience of incorrect purchases.

How often do I need a Zip tap filter replacement?

The lifespan of most filters ranges from 6 to 12 months, depending on your daily water usage. If it has been a year since your last replacement or you notice reduced water pressure, changes in taste or odour or a flashing indicator light, it is time to install a new one. Replacing the filter on schedule helps prevent the build-up of bacteria and ensures your system continues to deliver clear, fresh drinking water every day. Choosing a quality replacement from Aquastream supports consistent performance and dependable filtration.

Why is the filter light flashing on my Zip tap?

If the filter light flashes every few seconds, this indicates it’s time for a Zip water filter replacement. Since the Zip tap doesn’t know the age of the filter, you need to reset the internal filter using the underbench unit’s control panel.

What maintenance does my Zip tap require?

Easy, ongoing DIY maintenance will help to keep your system in top shape. All you need to do is:

  • Replace the Zip water filter when the filter-change light turns on.
  • If you have a Zip CO2 cylinder, replace this when the cylinder is empty.
  • Every time you replace the filter, check that the cooling fan air filter screen on the side of the underbench unit is clear of dust and lint. If it requires cleaning, we recommend rinsing it under running water and gently brushing it to remove the dust. Then dry completely using a cloth or paper towel and refit to the unit.
  • We also recommend cleaning the Zip tap and unit using a gentle soap or a non-corrosive cleaner and be sure to use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the surfaces. Steer clear of using any abrasive cleaning products or materials which could scratch or damage the finish on your Zip tap and avoid getting any soap between the tap levers, as this may affect the internal electronics.
  • Performing these simple steps is all that’s required to maintain the quality of your Zip tap and water filter system!

What’s the difference between Billi and Zip water filters?

Billi and Zip water filters are made to work exclusively within their own tap and underbench systems. Each brand uses its own filtration approach and specifications to support the performance of its appliances, so filters are not interchangeable between the two.

If you have a Billi system, you will need a compatible Billi water filter matched to that unit. Selecting the correct brand-specific filter helps ensure proper operation, consistent water quality, and ongoing system reliability.
