91290 Zip Filter Compatibility and Part Number Checks
The easiest way to confirm compatibility is to check the product code printed on your existing cartridge. Zip identifies product code 91290 as the direct replacement for the superseded GlobalPlus cartridge 91291, provided your system still uses a GlobalPlus filter head.
If the installed cartridge displays a different part number or your HydroTap has been upgraded to a MicroPurity filter head, you'll need a different replacement cartridge. Matching the installed code before ordering avoids compatibility issues and ensures you receive the correct filter for your system.
If your current cartridge is marked 91291, you’re in the right place! This 91290 filter is the recommended replacement as the 91291 has been discontinued.
Zip 91290 Filter Specifications and Certified Performance
The genuine 91290 Zip filter is a Zip GlobalPlus replacement cartridge with a 0.2-micron filtration rating and a 6,435-litre capacity. Its commercial flow rate is 1.9 L/min, according to Zip Water product specifications. According to Zip's product specifications, the cartridge reduces sediment over 0.2 micron, chlorine taste and odour, Cryptosporidium, Giardia, lead and limescale.
NSF standards for water treatment systems explain that NSF/ANSI 42 covers reductions that improve the aesthetic quality of drinking water, including chlorine taste and odour. NSF/ANSI 53 covers specific health-effect reduction claims that have been independently tested. These certifications apply only to the contaminants covered by their certification scope.
Zip 91290 Filter Replacement Timing and Installation
A Zip filter replacement 91290 is recommended every 12 months for residential HydroTap systems or earlier for higher-volume applications and whenever the system displays its filter replacement alert. Replacing the cartridge at the recommended interval keeps the filtration system operating in line with Zip's maintenance recommendations.
Installation starts by confirming the replacement cartridge matches the installed product code. After fitting the new cartridge, follow the manufacturer's flushing procedure and reset the filter counter where required. Aquastream's step-by-step guide, How to Change the 91290/93701 Zip HydroTap G4 Water Filter Cartridge, covers cartridge installation, flushing and filter counter reset in detail.
